Scarborough North & Area Vaccination Updates

3rd Doses for Immunocompromised Groups

On August 17, 2021, the Ontario Ministry of Health updated eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to begin offering 3rd doses to select vulnerable populations and medically complex patients.

Starting Friday August 20, Scarborough Health Network COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics will begin administering 3rd doses to the following immunocompromised groups:

Transplant recipients (including solid organ transplant and hematopoietic stem cell transplants)

Individuals receiving treatment with an anti-CD20 agent (e.g. rituximab, ocrelizumab, ofatumumab), commonly used for conditions such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, leukemias/lymphoma etc.

Individuals receiving active treatment (chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy)

for malignant hematologic disorders (e.g. Acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia)

For 3RD doses:

Must have received 2nd dose at least 2 months ago

Vaccine brand (Pfizer or Moderna) provided for 3rd doses will be based on the brand you received for your 2nd dose

Timing of 3rd dose should be decided with your treating provider in order to optimize the immune response from the vaccine and minimize delays in management of your underlying conditions.

Must bring a proof of treatment note from your care provider, or a list of medications when you arrive at the vaccine clinic

Please bring your 2nd dose vaccination receipt, if you are able (download a copy from the Ministry’s COVID-19 Vaccination website)

WALK IN at SHN's six vaccine clinic sites or BOOK your appointment.
